Almost Gone

T minus about five hours before we head out from Boston. Our first stop is Amsterdam, then to Nairobi, and finally to Entebbe, Uganda. From there we'll head to Northern Uganda and then Southern Sudan. It's going to be a pretty sweet ride, I think. Since I was lucky enough to have recently had a semi-vital organ removed, we're getting handi-capped seats on the plane. Is that legit?? We'll take it.

Jeff and I will be working in a small mission village just over the border of Northern Uganda. We aren't really sure what to expect as far as our day to day duties, but I'm pretty positive that there will be baby giraffes and building my own hut in it for me. Jeff hopes it will be a good learning experience - exposure to real "women's work" like carrying water on my head, making food out of nothing, and washing laundry until it looks like a wad of burlap. We'll see. He's shaving his head right now. There's nothing like traveling through Europe with a Marine. Seriously, guys it looks AWFUL! I can't believe this. All skin and a little bit of hair. And he didn't want to bring sunscreen!! Right now, I'm lobbying for a hat until that crap grows back in. OMG!

So, this will be our blog for the next two months. Steve and Steva have hooked us up with a nice digital camera (I wish it weren't packed...yall have to see Jeff's head!) so hopefully we will be able to share pictures as well as thoughts and stories of our experience with you. The internet/computer situation is still pretty unclear, but with any luck, I'll be able to wire the entire country in the first week I am there, using only a blackberry and duct tape.

Please send us emails and let us know what's happening back home...We don't think snail mail will have time to reach us, so email is best. Hope yall enjoy the thoughts, regardless of how random.
